Travel by Air

Wroclaw has an international airport (http://airport.wroclaw.pl/en/) and has direct flights to many European capitals and cities. Both regular and budget airlines are available LOT, Lufthansa, Eurolot, SAS, Ryanair and Wizzair.

A long range, intercontinental flight can be organized through one of European hubs:

  • Warsaw (Poland, flights to Wroclaw operated by LOT)
  • Frankfurt (Germany, flights to Wroclaw operated by LOT/Lufthansa)
  • Munich (Germany, flights to Wroclaw operated by LOT/Lufthansa)

There are frequent flights between Wroclaw and the mentioned hubs.

Airport to Conference site

Wroclaw airport is located just on the outskirts of the city. Taxis are widely available (TAXI mark must be clearly visible on the roof of the car). Taxis must have the price per kilometer displayed on the window – this allows for comparison shopping. Do not use UNREGISTERED taxis, usually you will have to overpay. Drivers waiting inside the terminal are usually UNREGISTERED ones – do NOT respond to their requests. REGISTERED taxis are available at the taxi stop outside the terminal building. Taxi fee from the airport to the center of the city should not exceed 50 PLN (round about 12 Euro) during the day, and 60 PLN (14 Euro) during the night. We suggest to ask about the fee, before entering the taxi.

There are also many car rental companies available in the building.

There are regular bus connections to the center of the city. Bus (number 406) goes every 20 minutes during the day. Travel takes 30-60 minutes, depending on traffic. When you plan to travel by bus, please remember to validate your ticket as soon as you enter the bus! Each bus has ticket validating devices near its doors. Tickets are valid for a single travel, travel distance or travel time is not important. Tickets can be purchased from the multilingual ticket vending machines.

Travelers from Southern Europe can travel through Germany (A4 highway in Poland), or through Czech Republic (A1 highway in Poland, partially completed). Travelers from Sweden, Norway and Finland can go to Poland by ferry to Swinoujscie and further by S3 expressway (partially completed) or through Germany via Berlin and further on to A4 highway. Travelers from southern part of Eastern Europe can travel by A4 highway. Northern part of Eastern Europe is connected only by national roads through Warsaw.

Wroclaw has two ring roads (inner and outer). Outer ring road (A8 highway) connects A4 highway and Wroclaw Airport with various parts of the city.
