Public transport and tickets
Warsaw’s public transport system (ZTM) includesbuses, trams, metro connections and SKM (urban rapid rail). All public transportation tickets can be purchased at ZTM points, in some newspaper kiosksand at ticket machines located in the metro stations, where you can pay either with cash or a debit card. Instructions on the ticket machines are in Polish, English and German. The Public Transport Authority gradually develops a network of ticket vending machines on board of its vehicles. As for now they have been installed onboard of all SKM trains, in new trams and many buses, including vehicles operatingon line 175 which runs to the Chopin Airport.
During the first journey the ticket should be validated (in the validating machine) immediately after boarding the vehicle. When traveling by metro, you should validate the ticket at the entrance gate before entering the platform, or in the validating machine available next to the lift.
