Networked European Software and Services Initiative (NESSI) Workshop

Wisla, Poland, October 20-22, 2008

NESSI, the Software and Services European Technology Platform was launched more than two years ago. In these two years, it moved from a vision of a service economy supported by 13 organizations to a community of 300 members spread across industry and academia in almost equal parts. This community has defined the NESSI Service Open Framework (NEXOF), as its main output and is working to ensure that the NEXOF aligns to user needs and provides a holistic framework to ease the uptake of innovative services in a context of secure, interoperable and reliable technology.

With national and regional programmes defining Software & Services priorities in all European countries, NESSI as the European Technology Platform on S&S is connecting with initiatives and technology platforms at national and regional level, as well as with the communities created around them.

Objectives

The objective of the workshop is to inform about NESSI’s advances, with a specific focus on the link of NESSI with national initiatives and platforms.

Presentations of the history and general status of NESSI will take place. After that the focus will be put on experiences of ongoing national technology platforms and how NESSI is supporting the links with those.

The relaunch of the Polish Technology Platform on Software and Services is the final objective of this workshop. The workshop aims to gather the stakeholders around the preparation of next steps for this initiative for the future, as well as the support and links of NESSI to this initiative.

Target Audience

The target audience for this workshop is any stakeholder wishing to be updated on NESSI and interested in participating in NESSI and the evolution towards a service oriented economy in which billions of services will be exchanged and marketed at a worldwide level.

Moreover this workshop aims to reach stakeholders interested in participating in the relaunch of the Polish National Technology Platform on Software & Services.

Discussion

The workshop will consist of invited presentations, panel discussion and a slot of time for a questions and answers session. A special slot of time will be reserved for discussion about possible ways of relaunching the national platform taking into account the experience and example of other ongoing initiatives.
